Urgent question from Bottom Billion: Can you help identify the greatest Bottom-Up and youth professionals networks ever mobilised -stories of "small beautiful, open planetwide scale absolutely essential"
SEARCH: Top 10 Jobs Co-Creators With NETGEN
10 Yunus -BEST NEWSCASTER EVER just in last 6 years diaries 1000 life changing concepts yunus has connected since jan 2008 which youth might otherwise never have been aware of- his valuetrue role plays the opposite to the ad agencies that spend half a trillion dollars a year rehearsing concepts that are marginal improvements at best and are failed bankers value chains, job-losers and dirty 20th century's at worst- how about you? BU inventions - Financial adviser, builder, energy-adviser, mobile telecoms for every 60 poorest mothers
9Sir Fazle Abed - BEST VILLAGE ENGINEER EVER -nobody in The Economist's (first 43 years of searching) both's engineers and audits the 3E's of microfranchsing with such relentless love (empowring self-confidence of all involved) as sir fazle abed and the world's largest and most collaborative grassroots networks BRAC. BU Inventions include - para-health, legal adviser, literacy and jobs educator for every village ... |
.... whats fun is anyone can nominate their own top 10 job creators
but to improve that list dont choose 10 who open the same doors
eg maybe yunus can talk about "celebrate" the 1000 concepts that most excite youth
but he's not jim kim a healthcare servant sitting on top of the most resourced organisations who could help adopt some of these ideas - see eg jim kim's next summit october 7 an please note this is a rehearsal for spring 2015 the final deadline kim and ba ki-moon have set for reviewing worldwide millennial entries http://live.worldbank.org/millennials-endpoverty-2030
nor is yunus - sir fazle abed who started building a real university 15 years ago to ensure sucession/ sustainability of the world's largest and most collaborative bottom-up ngo
nor are any of the three of these leading open education platforms though world bank as course partner could feature all the missing curricula milennials most want to job create and redesign vlue chains around as #2030now
....
nor directly in the middle of the most youth open tech wizards -the way maybe the director of mit media lab is able to connect usa and asia and africa
so if you like to improve the game rules - find a top 10 or top 5 descriptions of what could be win-wins- you dont have to name the personal gatekeeper straight away
then share your nominations in some sort of friendly wiki space-or even this email - note one persons view isnt correct or wrong it depends what your localities most urgent production needs sustaining youth are which is clearly different where each os us sits and which millennials vote for open source replicating /apping jobs

Branson youth's most valued CEO...Blecher, Mandela..
Because of phony metrics relatively few other ceos of the west's biggest companies yet care about creating jobs- this needs to the biggest change in promotional media ever -however
Danone's CEO Riboud
Arguably Whole Foods CEO Mackey Particularly because of wholeplanetfoundation wholekidsfoundation wholecities foundation is worth benchmarking
Google.org is vaut le voyage
Gorbachev- without whom East Europe wouldnt have been the contients most vital space, Yunus would not have enjoyed the space to connect youth and nobel peace laureates, Soros would have been missing key support of open society
Neville Williams without whom solar would be even further behind - and grameen's energy model for billion poor might never have been demonstrated
Sarah Butler-Sloss (sainsbury family, Ashden) without whom micro energy's critical timeline for wholeplanet would be even further behind, and eg bbc nature journalists would not have had the confidence to break the news of the climate crisis
Michaal Palin - without whom the cross-cultural joy of world service would have died at the BBC
Queen Elizabeth without whom the worldwide goodwill of the national health service wouldnt have taken the starring role at the opening of the olympics
Craig Barrett Family is worth watching
Gates Foundation is best for some of the things it partners behind teh secnces - eg in Tanzania it is BRAC's main partner and it also facilitated how the 4 main mobile companies could gain from a colaborative launch of cashless money's mpesa while continuing to compete around everything else
Julian's nanocredit is the next leapforward
The ITU's is worth watching
The quadir and hughes team are furthest ahead in doing the tech work of cashless banking (potentially a way of banking a billion as yet unbanked)
Mo Ibrahim without whom the revaluation of leadership across africa wouldnt have had the funds or fame to be taken seriously, and poverty alleviation wouldnt have become a cause that so many mobile billionaires raced to partner
Carlos Slim without whom spanish speaking South America wouldnt have become central to end rotten microcredit and there might be no spanish translation services for khan academy
Pope Francis without whom public servants for ending inequality wouldnt have become one of the most urgent missing professional curricula
Lech Walesa without whom Eastern Europe would have been less free, human solidarite movements wouldnt link in through some of the most war-torn places on the planet, and the value of someone like the Pope in getting a nation's elders to transform whatever the sacrifice would not have been demonstrated

Sir Fazle is in Miami next wednesday midday at the British Council summit on global open education http://www.britishcouncil.org/sites/britishcouncil.uk2/files/going_... Although several things converged around Bangladesh in 1971 to make it the most exciting nationwide advance out of extreme poverty, we dont see how it would have happened with out the rural schools of BRAC and his way of auditing microfranchise replicability around the 3Es Bangladesh's poverty museum race is to date a story of tow halves- how to socially network vilage mothers in the days when they had the least communications infrastructure in the world including no electricity and no phones. Then since 1996 how bangladesh villages became the world's first extreme mobilelabs. One application of this being to bank the next billion whose transactions were too small to record until that could be digitally linkedin. Today BRAC has a world leading model of safe and youth investment banking at all 3 levels- village mothers microcredit circles, http://www.bkash.com cashless banking, and most trusted city bank. Its rather good news that microeducation and microbanking have turned out to be a job creating world's extraordianry innovation led by the poorest village mothers of a generation ago Earlier this month the world bank hosted a seminal comparison of microfranchises racing to bank the next billion http://live.worldbank.org/digital-finance we'd love to see you post if you ever collaborate with any of sir fazle networks Further references illustrating how brac and grameen research cannot be wisely separated in any western curriculum of youth capitalism http://www.erworld.tv/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/considerb... |
In February I had the pleasure of launching the Global Partnership for Youth in the Post-2015 agenda – to which more than 1500 youth-led organizations have currently signed up. Your positive response to this call is a sure sign that young people care about our inclusion in future global development goals, and want to have a hand in shaping them.
The objective of this crowdsourcing platform is to consolidate input on youth related targets and indicators, which could feature in future development goals – but we are not starting from scratch. We are attempting to build on existing policies, agreements and recommendations developed during previous negotiations or already being implemented by member states. We intend to leverage those which are working, and revisit or upgrade those which aren’t – based on your feedback.
As early as 1985, the UN recognized the first International Year of Youth, and since then there has been some considerable work on the issue – steadily increasing in the run up to 2015 and the due date for the MDGs. Arguably the biggest step forward was the adoption of the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) by the UN General Assembly in 1995 – which outlines 15 priority areas for youth development. If you are involved in the area of youth development, but are not yet familiar with the WPAY, we suggest you take a look!
More recently, the My World 2015 survey was launched, which maps priority areas based on user votes. There have been more than 1.5 million votes on the platform, making it an excellent source of public information – the five main priority areas on this platform have been guided by results from there. The report – A Million Voices: The World We Want accurately captures a snippet of the global conversations and consultations happening around the world and on the platform.
Building on the WPAY, My World 2015 survey and numerous other public consultations, this initiative seeks to arrive at a consolidated set of principles for youth empowerment, which all appropriate actors can advocate for in the post-2015 development agenda. The result from this exercise will be 2-3 pages of concrete messaging, targeted at key actors responsible for setting the post-2015 development agenda. This will be the messaging that all those involved in the Global Partnership rally behind and promote, with a view to spreading awareness, and building the capacity of community based organizations to respond to these priorities. The text will include specific and measurable indicators for youth empowerment at global, regional and local levels – and will be supported with a more detailed background document highlighting specific content from this platform, as well as previous consultations.
Arriving at this consolidated position is just the first step. After we have this material, the purpose of the Global Partnership will be to create a network of local, grassroots organizations which encourage necessary action and monitoring of indicators for youth development in the period after 2015. This may involve advocacy work with local governments and municipalities, community outreach and awareness raising, and even data collection and reporting. Our ultimate objective is to be able to provide you with the frameworks and coordination mechanisms which empower you to express your views and gather public support, so that relevant governing bodies can take informed and representative decisions.
I am grateful for your support, and am confident that together we can ensure that young people find a home in the global post-2015 development agenda.

As my father's life work at The Economist diarises, The eastern hemisphere is the greatest job creating one today because of what Japan led through the 3rd quarter of the 20th Century. So I am overjoyed to have a trip to tokyo in a month to search for that country's current job creators with worldwide youth international conference, 'Beyond Capitalism' to be held at the University of Tokyo on 28 May. http://www.leadership.m.u-tokyo.ac.jp/event/up-coming/social-innova... guest speakers include Tri Mumpuni, Ashoka Fellow and CEO of IBEKA who was introduced to President Obama at the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington, saluting her in Obama's speech. Regarding Japan & MIT, Jo Ito and I can introduce someone who had worked for the MIT-Arab Business Plan Competition (please see: http://www.mitarabcompetition.com). This event has been held by MIT and Abdul Latif Jameel Foundation and support a wide range of start-up social enterprises across MENA regions and beyond. They are also closed to the Poverty Action Labs, established at many of internationally renowned universities. So, hopefully, this would be helpful for your side; otherwise, we have several connectors in here to bridge between Jo Ito and us. |

(Why note vote for Bula as a top 100 job creator for all his red eye trips between WSF and World Economic Forum)
we (including world citizen friends at simpol) came across brazilian networks as london prepared to host europe's world social forum- before Bula became president he had supported the year of water as a movement led across thousands of catholic parishes- the only non-commercial space left in Brazil . Strategically Brazil is home to over a third of the freshwater supplies on the planet but this poses 2 problems as the century of water wars begins: 1) big multinationals are trying to buy up these massive water resources instead of leaving them as a resource owned by brazil's future generations; most of the water intersects at Foz with 2 other's nations borders. So it is that Brazil is starting up a primary literacy curriculum of good water "Bon Aqua" involving thousands of teachers and hundred of thousands students with the goal of creating a good neighbours policy of water (the opposite to each neighbour dumping chemical and agricultural waste in ways that destroy another sate's investment in sustainability)
