We're thrilled to announce the winners of our MCAT Video Competition, a collaboration between Khan Academy, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Association of American Medical Colleges.
We selected 15 people from 67 submissions. They will each receive an all-expenses-paid weeklong training program facilitated by Khan Academy staff and scholars to create educational tutorials for concepts that will be tested by the new MCAT2015 exam, including human behavior, social sciences, inequality, and diversity.
We plan to start making these tutorials available this fall through both Khan Academy and the Pre-health Collection of the AAMC’s MedEdPORTAL® iCollaborative, a free, searchable online repository of instructional materials for teaching pre-health curricula.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation press release
I have actively participated in weekly medical education seminars discussing best practices and sharing ideas for curricular innovation. My ultimate career goal is to become a clinician-educator.
I'm excited at the chance to share my enthusiasm for psychology with a broad audience. This is also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about how to create effective online educational materials.
I became interested in teaching as an undergrad at Wellesley College, where I was a supplemental instructor and peer tutor. Having learned from many Khan Academy videos myself, this opportunity was at the intersection of many of my interests!
Khan Academy has helped millions of students worldwide, myself included. I am so grateful for this opportunity. I believe that if I can understand a concept, then I can teach anyone willing to listen.
I find Khan Academy's educational methods very effective, and I'm excited to have hands-on training in the creation of video lessons and quiz questions in that style to improve my teaching skills.
When I was studying for the MCAT, I learned as often as possible from Khan Academy. I'm excited to have the chance to help expand what's available for future students.
I believe in the mission of the Khan Academy and think it's a great mechanism for anyone to learn at their own pace with as much repetition as necessary until mastery. I'm eager to contribute to the growing knowledge pool.
Academic Medicine and Digital Health have always been equal but separate passions of mine. When I learned about Khan Academy, I felt like I had found a center-point between the two. I had to get involved.
I want to help provide educational material for the new 2015 MCAT to all students regardless of their ability to pay. I also believe that effectively incorporating technology into education will enhance the learning process.
This is a great opportunity to have some fun exploring new teaching methods. I had never made any kind of video before creating my submission and was excited by the idea of trying something new.
I believe that learning basic sciences shouldn't be withheld from those without access to stellar educational institutions or test prep programs. It'll be a lot of fun to be part of this this initiative to extend the reach of Khan Academy's vision.
When you're excited about what you're learning, you perform better. I hope to be able to share my enthusiasm for learning topics to others so that they can succeed.
For my senior thesis, I created an animated-type video about the senses and fell in love with the video process. My professor introduced me to Khan Academy and I realized this would be a great chance to pursue and expand this new interest I had discovered.
I am a direct recipient of the benefits of Khan Academy. I passionately believe in the mission of using technology to transform education, and to be a part of this revolutionary organization is both an exciting opportunity and an honor.
Khan Academy allows science education to be accessible to anyone in the world, and I hope to share my passion for science and healthcare with students that want to explore and learn.

The Economist mentions Khan Academy and the long overdue tech revolution in education http://econ.st/14bPEih
about partners http://smarthistory.khanacademy.org/partners.html
Smarthistory at Khan Academy is the leading open educational resource for art history. We make high-quality introductory art history content freely available to anyone, anywhere. Smarthistory is a platform for the discipline where art historians contribute in their areas of expertise and learners come from across the globe. We offer nearly 500 videos and these are being translated into dozens of languages. Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker created Smarthistory and are the Executive Editors. Videos are also available on Khanacademy.org and the Khan Academy app. Smarthistory and Khan Academy are 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporations.
About our Merger with Khan Academy Smarthistory joined Khan Academy in October 2011. Our missions are perfectly aligned—we are all working toward a “free world-class education for anyone anywhere.” Thanks to this partnership, Steven and Beth work on Smarthistory full-time.
Why We Made Smarthistory We created Smarthistory in 2005 to provide a richer learning experience than was possible with existing resources. Traditional textbooks are prohibitively expensive for many and do not take advantage of the digital technologies that are reshaping education. For example, textbooks often use only a single image to represent a work of art, they speak with an authoritative but impersonal voice, and they rarely incorporate the many valuable resources that universities, libraries and museums make available. We built Smarthistory to emphasize the experience of looking at art by using unscripted conversations recorded in front of the work of art whenever possible, by incorporating numerous images and video, and by curating links to high-quality resources on the web.
