|.60 years into my life I have never come across a subject where so many western advocates and academics are full of so much misinformation as to how a practical system evolved as that of Bangladesh microfinance's first 40 years. While we welcome comments on alternative vocabulary, if you become familiar with this 9 minute test you will then be able to who's fundraising for the sort of banking that has done most to end poverty and who isnt|

Barefoot Professionals- In both BRAC and Grameen the bankers themselves are the leading barefoot professionals. BRAC also links in over 40000 barefoot lawyers. Since 1996 Graneen's energy networke have been built up from the same sort of barefoot commitment as its bankers.
Definition-professionals who live in the villages so as to provide bottom-up service and empower by transferring as much knowhow as possible communally and in members actions and choices
Bonus point if you also know of BRAC's Barefoot volunteers. BRAC's first health program to scale across the whole of rural Bangladesh trained mothers in Oral rehydration reducing infant deaths by about a half! This experience made BRAC determined to linkin health knowhow with every banking circle of 45 members. However there weren't enough professionals in the whole of Bangladesh to serve the cities let alone to want to be barefoot in the villages. SO BRAC decided it would seek a volunteer health connector in every circle, and design a franchise around what basis health services that lady could offer. Grameen's health culture starts from health-slogans-for action representing about half of the 16 decisions chanted at the start of each weekly banking meeting of 60 women
