<p class="font_8"><span>Dr. Raywat Deonandan is an epidemiologist, author, journalist, and global health specialist. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, and formerly the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Canadian federal agency, Assisted Human Reproduction Canada. The 2000 recipient of the national book award of the nation of Guyana, Dr. Deonandan seeks to incorporate genuine interdisciplinarity into his work in the health sciences, exploring seemingly disparate --but actually interrelated-- topics in global disease burden, statistics, history, ethics, law, communication, and social policy. Dr. Deonandan currently sits on the Boards of Directors of both Harbourfront Centre (in Toronto) and the Canadian Society for Epidemiology & Biostatistics (CSEB), is the Editor of the CSEB's national newsletter, and maintains a regular blog with The Huffington Post Canada. <p class="font_8"><span>Jason Nickerson works as a field-based researcher in global public health, specializing in the assessment and mapping of disrupted health systems in post-conflict and post-disaster settings. His most recent work has involved operational field research in Haiti and Sudan, examining the development of health information systems used to assess the availability of essential health resources and services, including the mapping of health facilities. He has experience in the areas of surgical care, access to essential medicines, health systems strengthening, and health services research in several low- and middle-income countries, including Haiti, Sudan, Malawi, and Ghana. Jason is currently a respiratory therapist at The Ottawa Hospital, and has held clinical positions in anesthesia and critical care since 2005, and has also worked in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia.</span></p>

<p class="font_8"><span>Geneviève trained as a doctor in Montréal, Canada, and is currently working in tobacco control, as the spokesperson for the Québec Coalition for Tobacco Control, and as YP-CDN Community Director. She spent a one-year with the Copenhagen School of Global Health working on projects for the NCDs unit, but also involved curriculum development for pre-departure training and global health ethics. Geneviève is passionate about NCDs, building healthy cities and using the urban environment to influence health. She is the past Vice-President of Internal Affairs of the world’s largest medical student, the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) and she has served on the Student Committee of the Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC) for over 2 years</span></p>

<p class="font_8"><span>Caity is currently working at the Karolinska Institutet (where the famous Hans Rosling teaches!) in Stockholm, Sweden after completing her Masters of Medical Sciences (MSc) in Global Health at the same institution. </span><span>She is the Co-Director of the Canadian Society for International Health's MentorNet program and specializes in student and young professional engagement, career development, and leadership/mentorship in global health. Caity has organized panels and events on the Canadian Conference on Global Health (CCGH) for many years now. </span><span>Her thesis work focused on global health education, mapping out all of the Masters of Global Health programs in the world, and hopes to continue research into the educational programs and subsequent career paths of global health graduates.</span></p>

<p class="font_8"><span>Thomas is completing medical specialty training in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, with Family Medicine, at McMaster University. His research interests include global public health, disaster preparedness and response, climate change and health, and addressing health inequities of underserved populations through public health and primary care. He has been involved in indigenous health research in northern Canada and Botswana. He has worked clinically in Uganda and in Canada with inner city homeless and refugee populations. In his spare time he enjoys rock and mountain climbing, swimming, running, reading, travelling, learning languages and philosophizing solutions to global issues. Most of all he enjoys meeting new people.</span></p>

<p class="font_8"><span>Nicola Toffelmire is entering the final year of her undergraduate degree in the Health Studies co-operative program at the University of Waterloo. </span><span>She has completed five health-related co-op placements and has worked on projects in six developing countries. She is a member of the student network executive with the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR) and she just completed an 8 month co-op placement with the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) in Ottawa.</span></p>
